Information in Regards to Dogs

The Linn County Sheriff's Office is in charge of Animal Control for Linn County, and for the City of Harrisburg.  If you have complaints about dogs, whether it's a lost dog, a loose dog, or to report abuse, neglect, or a vicious dog, please contact their department during the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.  The number is 541-967-3925.  The LCSO website, has excellent information about dogs, including pictures of lost dogs.  Please note that complaints about dogs, or reports about lost dogs, can't be taken via email. 

After hours and weekends, if you have a complaint, please contact Linn County Sheriff Dept. Dispatch at 1-541-995-9483.  The Harrisburg substation can also be reached at 541-995-9483.  However, please note that the Harrisburg substation is not staffed on a regular basis; If the phone isn't answered, please resort back to the dispatch line instead.

LEASH LAW NOW IN EFFECT!   Any dogs on sidewalks, on the streets, or any property other than your own, must be kept on a leash.  Violation of the law will result in your animal being declared a public nuisance. The animal officers, or Linn County deputies responding to any complaints can seize and impound any animal causing a public nuisance.  Violations can be punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.00, in Municipal Court.
