Parks Master Plan Project
What kind of Park do YOU want in your neighborhood?
Made possible through a grant from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, the City of Harrisburg will be creating a new Parks Master Plan to replace the extremely outdated 2004 Master Plan. Working with the City again in 2021 and 2022 will be Parks Consultants Cameron McCarthy Landscape Architecture and Planning.
A Master Parks Plan will help the City to meet our goals, of making sure that there is plenty of recreational areas for citizens to enjoy. Whether you like to walk, ride your bike, walk your dog, play with your kids, or simply enjoy the great outdoors, we want to get your point of view, and provide you with the space and amenities in which to enjoy yourself!
Our Consultants will be meeting with citizens in our community in order to find out what kinds of parks spaces will work the best in each neighborhood. Each existing park will be analyzed, and recommendations will be made to the City about what kinds of amenities need to be added, updated, or removed...including proposals on how to pay for them. Access for people with disabilities is extremely important, and equal access to all that our parks have to offer is equally important!
PARKS WORKSHOP - THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2022
We hope that you took part in the workshop held earlier this year at the Harrisburg Municipal Center. We do need your input!
Get involved, and watch for opportunities this winter in which you can participate in meetings and take part in surveys that will help our Parks system be the best it can be. Help us create something that is sustainable, that all age groups can enjoy, and that works for every person in Harrisburg.
If you'd like to be notified when it's time to give input, please give our City Recorder, Lori Ross, a call at 541-995-6655 to be put on the distribution list, or email her at lross@ci.harrisburg.or.us.
