Eagle Park
No Camping and No Fires allowed in Eagle Park at any time!
There is no camping, and absolutely no fires or any kind of flames are allowed in Eagle Park at any time. This includes wood fires, charcoal briquettes, pellet-fueled grills, candles, tiki torches and other devices that emit flames or embers and cannot be turned off with a valve. Portable cooking stoves and other devices using liquefied or bottle fuels are allowed for cooking purposes only; fire pits are not permitted.
Project Site
This undeveloped park is located south of the Hwy 99 bridge along the east bank of the Willamette River. It was recently an active gravel mine owned and operated by Knife River Inc; the City took ownership in spring 2021. The site has roughly 1 mile of river frontage and has two ponds that are linked, and a 3rd smaller one on-site. The site is still undergoing reclamation from the gravel mining, and will not be generally usable by the public until the reclamation process is complete. A portion of the site is located inside the Willamette River Greenway, and the whole site is within the 100 year floodplain.
The park is completely undeveloped, and citizens may use it at their own risk. There are deep areas in the first pond, as well as access to the Willamette River. There are no restrooms, roads, or any other amenities in this new park at this time. There are no plans for camping of any kind, nor do we allow fires at any time of year.
The City has applied for a $75,000 grant in 2023, which we hope will fund the dog park and nature trail, which will be located in the upper section of the park. We are also annexing this section into the City, that is located in the City's UGB. In 2023, we have started work parties and invite citizens to join us in a grass roots effort to build the trail in the upper section. If the grant is funded, a 43,000 sq. ft. dog park, with a separate area for small dogs, will be built in the future.
