Downtown Construction and Street Trees
Streets under construction currently in the downtown area are 2nd St., from Moore St. to Smith St., and Smith St., between 1st St. and 2nd St. City Hall can be accessed from Moore St. and 1st St from the south. The post office is currently available on Smith until work commences on that block, and is also accessible from the alley way that runs behind it, from 3rd St. Macy Street, between 3rd & 2nd Streets, is still partially under construction, as is 2nd St, from Macy to Moore St. The top layer of paving will be added in the future.
The streets being replaced downtown are full street replacements. Street trees that are removed during this construction, will be replaced with better trees. In fact, the City will be adding more trees than what was there before. Trees being replaced will be better suited for the harsh temperatures and compact areas in which they are planted. Citizens that are interested in how this will look, can see the full street replacement that was completed previously on Moore St., between 3rd St. and 1st St.
