Event Approved- The Pacific NW Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K - Sept 16 and 17
PUBLIC EVENT PERMIT APPLICATION - Event Approved
450 runners and their families will descend on Harrisburg at the middle/grade school bus driveway on Friday, Sept 16th, and Saturday, Sept 17th. The coordinators need 10 more adult volunteers, and 10 youth volunteers. Please call 541-653-9704 if you can help! More information is below.
INFORMATION RELATED TO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST MARATHON IS BELOW:
CASE: Pacific Northwest Marathon - Public Event permit 2022-04
SITE LOCATION
The event is a full marathon, ½ marathon & 5K that starts and ends at the Harrisburg Grade/Middle School. The following are streets in the City where the races will be run:
Marathon & ½ Marathon Races;
Start at bus driveway at Harrisburg Grade/Middle School. Proceed south to Priceboro St., east to (outside City limits) to Powerline Rd, south to Herman Rd, west to N. Coburg Rd, north to Bowers Dr., and reverse route to the starting point. Half Marathoners will turn around on Powerline and return to the start line. The 5K route will follow the same route that the Firecracker 5K uses in town.

REQUEST:
The applicant has been approved for their Public Event Permit to host a marathon, half marathon and 5K that starts and ends in the City of Harrisburg. Streets will be impacted and some parking will be limited on the day of the race. No street closures are proposed. Packet Pickup will be at the middle school on Fri, Sept 16 5:00 to 7:00pm. A full race day expo will be held, including live music and loudspeaker. On Sat, Sept 17, the full marathon starts at 7:00am and half marathon at 8:00am. The 5K will be held at 9:00am. The event should be completed by 2:00pm on Saturday, after awards are given.

Conditions of Approval for this event are attached below. The deadline to submit comments was Tuesday, September 6, 2021 by 10:00 am.
DECISION:
The City Administrator has approved this event, and did not receive testimony from any member of the public or area agencies.
DECISION-MAKING CRITERIA:
The City Administrator evaluated this request based on specific review criteria from the Harrisburg Municipal Code (HMC) Chapter 9.52.
Citizens are encouraged to become familiar with the applications and applicable review criteria. All documents associated with the request may be reviewed at City Hall without charge; or, copies will be provided upon request at a charge.
