Load Restrictions on the Harrisburg Bridge for SU7 and EV3 Vehicles

On February 28, ODOT notified the City of Harrisburg that they were placing a load restriction on the Harrisburg bridge that spans the Willamette River.  The restrictions apply only to SU7 and EV3 vehicles; which are those containing multiple axles, and are therefore able to carry a huge amount of weight in a single vehicle.  The bridge is in satisfactory condition; this rating will not effect most local farm vehicles, Knife River pre-stress long loads, or regular semi's, double trailer, and even triple trailer vehicles, as long as they are operating under the weight restrictions.

A large number of new signs will start going up in early, and mid-March.   A SU7 vehicle will be limited to 36 tons, and a EV3 vehicle will be limited to 33 tons.

The memo, and restriction plan, are available at the bottom of this webpage.

Will this effect my business?  Unless you have a SU7 vehicle, that weighs more than 36 tons, this will not effect you.

Do I need to worry about heavy loads being on the bridge?  Generally, no.  The bridge is in satisfactory condition.  But it was built in 1925, with pre-stressed concrete slabs added in 1976.  This is a precautionary measure, made to make sure that the bridge is not put through undue stress.
