Opioid & Narcotics Information
Our great community is being exposed to some of the worse products ever to hit City streets. Narcotics have been around a long time, but when Fentanyl came on the scene, it changed everything. Now a person trying drugs just once, could die from an exposure that is infinitesimal.
Harrisburg Narcotics/Fentanyl Awareness Forum: The City is working with Linn Together to put together another forum in late May 2025. We will have a panel of experts ranging from health care members to our wonderful deputies who unfortunately, deal with fallout from drug use on an almost daily basis; we will have free Narcan for attendees..
Exodus Recovery Services provides local therapy services, including individual and group therapy. Their services include Individual Counseling for Drug and Alcohol Addiction. https://www.facebook.com/ExodusRecovery/ You can also pick up free Narcan at Exodus Recovery Services, no questions asked. If you are worried about your child’s access to illicit drugs, please check out the Linn Together website at https://linntogether.org. The DEA has many informative sites, including this one: https://www.dea.gov/fentanylawareness and the One Pill Can Kill campaign. https://www.dea.gov/onepill Have your child view the Just One Pill Can Kill campaign video. (This is a message by students, for students) Also, check out the Info for Parents and Caregivers tab, halfway down the page, and view the Fentapills- You Need to Know video. https://www.dea.gov/onepill/parents-and-caregivers There is also an excellent 20 minute video for teens and young adults at the bottom of the drug education page provided by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office: https://www.linnsheriff.org/community-resources/drugeducation/ We need to communicate, and educate our family, friends and neighbors on this horrible epidemic. I think all of us probably know someone who has lost a family member or a friend to this; please help us to save lives, and protect our families from the anguish of losing a family member.
